Freedom is found in Self Discipline

When we begin to desire and resolve to the need for discipline in our personal lives therein Freedom is found. We can look around the world and take license to do anything our heart desires. But in taking a license we are immediately subjected to the terms, consequences, conditions and bondage our choices
have hidden and contained therein. In life regardless of financial or social standing, Discipline is a prerequisite the removal of the chains of bondage that leads to personal freedom. If we could but catch the vision of Self discipline we ...would find the old adage true. An ounce of Prevention is far better than 10 tons of cure. Put simply the things with which we do not begin we will never have to stop. But if we find our self bound by the license to habits that we so freely took, Self discipline is the only key to the chains and fetters that hold us bound. Self discipline leads to good habits, and good habits are developed through and self restraint in the workshops of our daily lives. It is not in the great moments of test and trial that character is built. In the heat of battle character is merely displayed. So Remember the fetters of bad habits and mistakes coupled with the persons misconduct, overwhelmingly regulates and dominates the life of which is bound. As he or she falls victim to the consequences of their errors. We must remember It is never too late to change, to make things right, to leave old activities and habits behind. Out of tribulation brings humility and a willingness to submit to whatever things the Lord your God would have you endure. Take an inventory of your habits today. Your habits dictate and direct your life they become the fabric of your character, because you see character is found and fashioned in the seemingly often uneventful common place of the routine chores of life .

What is Charity in its True Sense

What is Charity in it s True sense? chairty is the pure love of Chirst which helps us to gain a devine attribute as we grow to know and Love God we naturally gain a pure love for our fellow man. In this God accomplishes his purposes Heart To Heart.

One day there was an older man whom was at the bedside of his dying wife.

One day there was an older man whom was at the bedside of his dying wife. A dear friend visited him and asked how he was doing. The man responded, "Not good, I am learning things I never wanted to learn" After the passing of his wife the man was asked to address his church and tell of his experience. This is what he said. The man explained during the time at the hospital he was doing a lot of soul searching.

As he sat pondering the days ahead he found this poem that brought him immediate

Comfort and helped him to see his wife’s passing through the eyes of God....

I asked God to take away my pride

And God said “No.”

He said It was not for him to take away, but for me to give up.

I asked God to make my suffering child whole and God said, “No.”

He said her spirit is whole, her body is only temporary.

I asked God to grant me patience and God said, ” No.”

He said that patience is a byproduct of tribulation,

It isn’t granted it is Earned.

I asked God to give me happiness and God said “No.”

He said he gives me blessings and Happiness is up to me.

I asked God to spare me pain, and God said “No.”

He said suffering draws you apart from worldly cares.

And brings you closer to me.

I asked God to make my spirit grow and God said “No.”

He said I must grow on my own, but he will prune me to make

Me fruitful.

I asked God if he loved me and God said “Yes.”

He gave me His only Beloved Son who died for me and I will

Be in Heaven someday because I believe.

I asked God to help me love others as much as He loves me.

And God said: “Ah my son, finally you have caught the vision of life.”

Have you ever noticed how much more you prize something you have worked

Have you ever noticed how much more you prize something you have worked and sacrificed for against something that was just given to you? If it were up to me I would rather have my life flow smoothly featuring a unbroken chain of green lights and empty parking spaces in front of my favorite destinations
with scuba diving and ice-cream every morning and Mexican food for lunch and a seafood boil on a beach paradise every night as I retire to my bungalow that resides over the water of a crystal blue lagoon. Ohhh sorry I just woke up. In reali...ty, True victories in life come through our ability to work around and climb over the obstacles that lie across and encumber our path. We grow stronger as we climb our own mountain verses coasting down the slopes of those who have gone before us. One of the blessings as we walk though the rough road of life comes in the form of friends. I have often sung a song to my children from Disney’s The Jungle book. Due to my lack of talent in that area, I am sure my rendition would not hit the top 40. Never the less , The song is “That’s What Friends Are For”. Some of the lyrics are, When you’re alone, who comes around, To pluck you up, When you are down. And when you’re on the outside looking in, who’s there to open the door that’s what friends are for. So you can see we’re friends in need and friends in need, are friends in deed, We’ll keep you safe in the jungle for ever more. That’s what friends are for

Have you noticed that you just can't get enough of what you do not need?

Have you noticed that you just can't get enough of what you do not need? And it is not possible to purchase happiness at a store on the internet or in a catalog. What we need most in life are the things money simply cannot buy. A man by the name of Harold B. Lee told a childhood story of the Great Depression
One day he spoke of the depression, he spoke of his mother as a skilled homemaker and his father as a farmer and person of many odd jobs to make ends meet. He made the statement. “WE HAD EVERTHING MONEY COULD NOT BUY." One of our most valu...able qualities is Love. As you look at your family origin no matter how "un" perfect it may be, do not despair. You can set in motion a new pattern of behavior in your house and family that will send a rippling effect and mold the lives of your children, grand children which has the potential to carry on throughout the generations to come. Gordon B. Hinckley stated. When I got married I was very anxious about the economic realities of my marriage. His totaled his assets and realized he had less than $150. Even more alarming, he only made 185.00 a month. In talking to his wife Majorie about his worries she put his fears to rest. She replied. Well I had only hoped for a husband, and now I found out I am getting $150 too!! This will work wonderfully she told him. If you've got $150 dollars we’re set. As we ponder our lives the majority of life’s problems will fade away depending on how we react to them. When you find the things in life that really matter most the other things fade in their level of importance. Money cannot buy True Love, Eternal Health, or Lasting Happiness. Basically money is a Universal passport to everywhere but Heaven.

Walking through heck to get to heaven

Have you ever noticed sometimes it feels like you have to walk through heck to get to heaven. I have noticed in my life when it seem like heavy trials are upon me I have often said; Something good is about to happen because I am really being tried right now. Difficulties many times are just Gods errands. If we are sent... upon them, it is evidence of his confidence in us.Out of difficulties comes the experience and wisdom. When the lesson is learned, we can then bless anothers life by helping with our wisdom earned, by lending a hand to ones enduring simular trials.

The Wooden Bird

There is an old man by the name of Boyd K Packer. All his life he has enjoyed carving wooden birds. One particular day he and a friend were traveling with a magnificent carving to show another friend; when all of a sudden someone pulled out in front of them. As Boyd’s friend slammed on the brakes, the bird slammed onto the floor and broke all to pieces. Boyds friend immediately pulled over to the side of the road and was devastated. Boyd was not. Without thinking he said, forget it. I made it, I can fix it. And he did. And when he finished his repair of the bird it was stronger and even im...proved. Now Who Made YOU?? Who is your Creator?? There is not anything about your life that gets bent or broken that he cannot fix, and will fix. You have to decide, if you have made mistakes and think you are broken and cannot be put back together. You have forgotten the power of God. So if you are on the wrong path, you must decide to follow your conscience and exercise the powers of repentance. Repentance is like a mathematical equation. It works every time when used correctly. Repentance leads to forgiveness, and in this you will find, what was once weak will become stronger and even improved in the hands of the creator

Shakespeare's Henry the VIII, Cardinal Wolsey who sold out his religiou...s persuasions to please the Monarch of the land, and in his fallen state he declared " had I but served my God with half the zeal I served my King, he would not in mine age have left me naked to mine enemies. If you pray together you will stay together, then while you are together as a couple serve God with all our heart might mind and strength you will stand together united and blameless at the last day.

Our Opinions are Based On Our Value System and Rules our Decisions

We stand at the crossroads of life each minute, each hour, each day, making choices. We choose the thoughts we allow ourselves to think, the passions we allow ourselves to feel, and the actions we allow ourselves to perform. Each Choice is made in the context of whatever value system we've selected to govern our lives. In selecting that value system we are in a very real way making the most important choice we will ever make. Those who believe there is one God who made all things and who governs the world by his Providence will make many choices different from those who do not. Those who hold in reverence that being who gave them life and worship him through adoration, prayer and thanksgiving will make many different choices than those who do not. Those who believe that mankind are all of a family and that the most acceptable service of God is doing good to all man, will make many choices different from those who do not. Those who believe in a future state in which all that is wrong here will be make right, will make many choices different from those who do not. Those who subscribe to the morals of Jesus will make many choices different from those who do not. Since the foundation of all happiness is thinking rightly, and since correct action is dependent on correct opinion, we cannot be too careful in choosing the value system we allow to govern our thoughts and actions. And to know that God governs in the affairs of men, that he hears and answers prayers and that he is the rewarder of them that diligently seek him, is indeed a powerful regulator of human conduct. (Benjamin Franklin’s The Art Of Virtue: His formula for Successful Living.)

A boy visited his lumberjack uncle on the job. He was immediately impressed by a huge tree standing alone on a hill. The boy in awe exclaimed lets cut that huge tree, we will get alot of good wood from that one. The uncle replied, no son good lumber comes from trees in groves. Standing alone a tree has many limbs. All of the limbs grow when the tree is milled it leaves many many knots. In lumber a knot is very tough to cut or nail though. But it is also the weakest spot in a rafter when a load is placed on the timber. If we are selfish and only care about ourselves, and do not fill our lives with service and friendship we may look ok on the outside but on the inside we miss out on our true potential. We are the same we grow better together than we do alone. Strength grows in numbers

One advantage of living many years is you can remember the good times when the bad ones are weighing down. Adversity with the right attitude forges self confidence, self respect, & character adversity can help us purge and purify our lives of things that really don't matter. Prioritize your life in this order and you will win the battle. 1 God, 2 Family, 3 Church, 4 Worldly obligations

The Lords votin For Me

There is an old saying that states. The Lord's votin for me, and the devil's votin against me, but it's my vote that counts! The powers of Satan are like a steady unchanging constant magnet that is set in the center of the things of this world. Sometimes in our life it feels like his power has become stronger.
In reality his power level has not changed. To illustrate my point, Think of the word of God as a long straight Iron rod leading to heaven. When you are on the straight but narrow path holding to the iron rod that leads to heaven; Satan has little influence over you. It is when you let go of the rod to inspect something enticing beside the path, in that moment you feel the magnetic pull. As you wander away from the rod the steeper the slope becomes. You are now working against that magnetic pull and you feel it each day. It only becomes stronger as you continue to frolic and play. Then one day you see something that reminds you of what you held so dear. It is then you look up and find that straight path is not so near. So in despair you think of that little path that seems so far away. But if you will grab hold of that "little book ( the scriptures)" we call the iron rod, you will quickly find your way. For God will plot a new path but you must use his GPS. (God,Prayer,Scriptures) with his GPS in your hand, you are sure to find your way. There is now no cloud of darkness that can stand in your way. For when you obey the commandments, pray and read your scriptures too. You will find that magnetic pull of the evil one will have no hold on you. In doing this you will finally see the pull of the evil one has simply faded away. But you must remember to stay on that long straight path with your GPS in your hand so you will never again lose your way from now until the end.

There is One Thing More Serious Than Not Believing

There is one thing more serious than not believing. It is to not care about believing. When you do not believe, God can still soften your heart and guide your footsteps. On the other hand if you don’t care that is quite another matter God cannot steer something that is not willing to move. Have you ever seen someone perform a Christ like act and say to yourself, “Now why didn't I think of that?”
Those whom are mindful enough to perform those acts of service are those who have mastered the art of awareness. They have formed the skills and habits of being sensitive to the needs of others before they think of themselves. How would you do that, one might say? The answer is simple; to form a mental habit on the average it takes around 30 to 40 repetitions of doing something. Basically it takes practice. The same goes for spiritual matters. If you want to become more sensitive to the spirit of God you must practice and master one principle at a time. Once something becomes a habit, you move on to the next desire habit. Habits are hard to break because we do it naturally without thinking.

How You Live Out Weighs What You Profess

The way we live far outweighs any words we may profess to follow. If our words are not consistent with our actions they will never be heard above the thunder of our deeds. Live so that others will want to know Christ because they know you.

Character is Obviously a Positive Thing

When it is said someone has character, it is obviously a positive thing. It is not protected innocence, but practiced virtue, it is not fear of vice, but love of excellence. "Ones character is woven quietly from the threads of hundreds of correct decisions, Almost like hundreds of little practice sessions.
When strengthened by obediance and worty acts, correct decisions form a fabric of character that brings victory in a time of great need" Richard G Scott

Worry

There was once an old man whom was always vexed with worry. His friends would say you know Tom you just worry entirely too much. One day Tom Loudly protested with his well earned gray hair flapping in the wind, "You can't tell me worry doesn't help; Because the things I worry about never happen. So I have obviously done something right.

The Eagle and The Chicken

At the edge of the woods, near a small farm, a baby eagle fell out of the nest. While checking on his crops the farmer found the eagle. Not knowing what else to do he brought him home and placed him in with his baby chickens. As time passed, the baby eagle grew up learning to do what chickens do. He clucked, he strutted around the coop pecking at the corn and even tried his voice at the morning wake-up call.
One day a neighbor came to visit the farmer. The farmer said come here you have got to see this. The man was surprised to see the eagle strutting around the chicken coop, pecking at the ground, and acting like a chicken. The farmer explained he had brought the little bird to the coop not knowing what else to do. He further told his friend that since the bird had been raised a chicken that the bird actually believed himself to be a chicken.

The neighbor said there is more to this noble bird than his behavior displayed as a chicken. He was born an eagle and had the heart of an eagle, and nothing could change that. The Old farmer said, no my friend how you are raised is what you are no matter what you say or do. The neighbor disagreeing reached down and lifted the eagle onto the fence surrounding the chicken coop and said, “Eagle, you are an eagle. Stretch your wings and fly.” The eagle only look blankly at the man and clucked then jumped off the fence and continued doing what chicken do. The farmer was satisfied. “I told you - he thinks he’s a chicken,” and nothing can change that.

The neighbor couldn’t sleep that night . He promptly returned the next morning to convince the farmer that the eagle was something greater. The farmer amused by his neighbors interest in the eagle sat back and watched as the man took the eagle from the dirty coop and carried him to the top of the farmhouse. Setting the bird down on the roof, the neighbor spoke to him: “Eagle, you are an eagle. You therefore belong to the sky and not to the earth. Stretch your wings and fly.” The large bird blinked at the man, clucked, and then jumped down into the chicken coop. And resumed scratching and pecking the ground. The old farmer just laughed histerically and said see I told you, you cant excape your past. My boy that eagle will never be more than a chicken.

As you could imagine the neighbor had a very restless night. Bright and early the next morning the neighbor returned to the farmers house. The farmer smiled and shook his head and said you dont give up easy do you. The neighbor said come go with me I have an Idea that I want to show you. The neighbor took the eagle and the farmer far away from the farm and chicken coop to top of a high mountain. With the chicken Coop no where in sight the man lifted the eagle on his outstretched arm and pointed high into the sky where the bright sun was beckoning above. He spoke: “Eagle, you are an eagle! You  were made for the sky not the earth therefore Stretch forth your wings and fly.” This time the eagle stared skyward into the bright sun, straightened his large body, and stretched his massive wings. With a Loud Screetch the eagles wings began to  move, slowly at first, but then grew more restless and then more powerfull.
With another loud and mighty screech the eagle took flight soaring above the mountain and valley below.

In life if we want to achieve what God intend us to be we have to remove ourselves from the bad influences that becon us to the ground.
Put simply.
If you want to soar with the eagles you can not afford to be scratching with the chickens.

God V/S Science

This story has been touted as being events from Albert Einstein life as a student.
The source of the story is not really valid but the content is phenomonal.
If this Happened or Not is irrelivant
It builds a powerful case with Science of the existance of God where the Science and the world is trying to
Destroy the existance of God Relying on the Arm of the Flesh which is Mans intellect.

'Let me explain the problem science has with religion.'

The atheist professor of philosophy pauses before his class

and then asks one of his new students to stand.

'You're a Christian, aren't you, son?'

'Yes sir,' the student says.

'So you believe in God?'

'Absolutely. '

'Is God good?'

'Sure! God's good.'

'Is God all-powerful? Can God do anything?'

'Yes'

'Are you good or evil?'

'The Bible says I'm evil.'

The professor grins knowingly. 'Aha! The Bible! He considers

for a moment. 'Here's one for you. Let's say there's a sick person over

here and you can cure him. You can do it. Would you help him? Would you

try?'

'Yes sir, I would.'

'So you're good...!'

'I wouldn't say that.'

'But why not say that? You'd help a sick and maimed person if

you could. Most of us would if we could. But God doesn't.'

The student does not answer, so the professor continues. 'He

doesn't, does he? My brother was a Christian who died of cancer, even

though he prayed to Jesus to heal him. How is this Jesus good? Can you

answer that one?'

The student remains silent. 'No, you can't, can you?' the

professor says. He takes a sip of water from a glass on his desk to

give the student time to relax 'Let's start again, young fella. Is God

good?'

'Er..yes,' the student says.

'Is Satan good?'

The student doesn't hesitate on this one. 'No.'

'Then where does Satan come from?'

The student falters. 'From God'

'That's right. God made Satan, didn't he? Tell me, son. Is

there evil in this world?'

'Yes, sir..'

'Evil's everywhere, isn't it? And God did make everything, correct?'

'Yes'

'So who created evil?' The professor continued, 'If God

created everything, then God created evil, since evil exists, and

according to the principle that our works define who we are, then God

is evil.'

Again, the student has no answer. 'Is there sickness?

Immorality? Hatred? Ugliness? All these terrible things, do they exist

in this world?'

The student squirms on his feet. 'Yes.'

'So who created them?'

The student does not answer again, so the professor repeats his

question. 'Who created them?' There is still no answer. Suddenly the

lecturer breaks away to pace in front of the classroom. The class is

mesmerized. 'Tell me,' he continues onto another student. 'Do you

believe in Jesus Christ, son?'

The student's voice betrays him and cracks. 'Yes, professor, I do.'

The old man stops pacing. 'Science says you have five senses

you use to identify and observe the world around you. Have you ever

seen Jesus?'

'No sir. I've never seen Him.'

'Then tell us if you've ever heard your Jesus?'

'No, sir, I have not..'

'Have you ever felt your Jesus, tasted your Jesus or smelt your

Jesus? Have you ever had any sensory perception of Jesus Christ, or God

for that matter?'

'No, sir, I'm afraid I haven't.'

'Yet you still believe in him?'

'Yes'

'According to the rules of empirical, testable, demonstrable

protocol, science says your God doesn't exist... What do you say to

that, son?'

'Nothing,' the student replies.. 'I only have my faith.'

'Yes, faith,' the professor repeats. 'And that is the problem

science has with God. There is no evidence, only faith.'

The student stands quietly for a moment, before asking a

question of His own. 'Professor, is there such thing as heat? '

' Yes.

'And is there such a thing as cold?'

'Yes, son, there's cold too.'

'No sir, there isn't.'

The professor turns to face the student, obviously interested.

The room suddenly becomes very quiet. The student begins to explain.

'You can have lots of heat, even more heat, super-heat, mega-heat,

unlimited heat, white heat, a little heat or no heat, but we don't have

anything called 'cold'. We can hit d own to 458 degrees below zero,

which is no heat, but we can't go any further after that. There is no

such thing as cold; otherwise we would be able to go colder than the

lowest -458 degrees. Every body or object is susceptible to study when

it has or transmits energy, and heat is what makes a body or matter

have or transmit energy. Absolute zero (-458 F) is the total absence of

heat. You see, sir, cold is only a word we use to describe the absence

of heat. We cannot measure cold. Heat we can measure in thermal units

because heat is energy. Cold is not the opposite of heat, sir, just the

absence of it.'

Silence across the room. A pen drops somewhere in the

classroom, sounding like a hammer.

'What about darkness, professor. Is there such a thing as darkness?'

'Yes,' the professor replies without hesitation.. 'What is

night if it isn't darkness?'

'You're wrong again, sir. Darkness is not something; it is the

absence of something. You can have low light, normal light, bright

light, flashing light, but if you have no light constantly you have

nothing and it's called darkness, isn't it? That's the meaning we use

to define the word. In reality, darkness isn't. If it were, you would

be able to make darkness darker, wouldn't you?'

The professor begins to smile at the student in front of him.

This will be a good semester. 'So what point are you making, young man?'

'Yes, professor. My point is, your philosophical premise is

flawed to start with, and so your conclusion must also be flawed.'

The professor's face cannot hide his surprise this time.

'Flawed? Can you explain how?'

'You are working on the premise of duality,' the student

explains.. 'You argue that there is life and then there's death; a good

God and a bad God. You are viewing the concept of God as something

finite, something we can measure. Sir, science can't even explain a

thought.' 'It uses electricity and magnetism, but has never seen, much

less fully understood either one. To view death as the opposite of life

is to be ignorant of the fact that death cannot exist as a substantive

thing. Death is not the opposite of life, just the absence of it.' 'Now

tell me, professor.. Do you teach your students that they evolved from

a monkey?'

'If you are referring to the natural evolutionary process,

young man, yes, of course I do.'

'Have you ever observed evolution with your own eyes, sir?'

The professor begins to shake his head, still smiling, as he

realizes where the argument is going. A very good semester, indeed.

'Since no one has ever observed the process of evolution at

work and cannot even prove that this process is an on-going endeavor,

are you not teaching your opinion, sir? Are you now not a scientist,

but a preacher?'

The class is in uproar. The student remains silent until the

commotion has subsided. 'To continue the point you were making earlier

to the other student, let me give you an example of what I mean.' The

student looks around the room. 'Is there anyone in the class who has

ever seen the professor's brain?' The class breaks out into laughter.

'Is there anyone here who has ever heard the professor's brain, felt

the professor's brain, touched or smelt the professor's brain? No one

appears to have done so. So, according to the established rules of

empirical, stable, demonstrable protocol, science says that you have no

brain, with all due respect, sir.' 'So if science says you have no

brain, how can we trust your lectures, sir?'

Now the room is silent. The professor just stares at the

student, his face unreadable. Finally, after what seems an eternity,

the old man answers. 'I Guess you'll have to take them on faith.'

'Now, you accept that there is faith, and, in fact, faith

exists with life,' the student continues. 'Now, sir, is there such a

thing as evil?' Now uncertain, the professor responds, 'Of course,

there is. We see it Everyday. It is in the daily example of man's

inhumanity to man. It is in The multitude of crime and violence

everywhere in the world. These manifestations are nothing else but

evil.'

To this the student replied, 'Evil does not exist sir, or at

least it does not exist unto itself. Evil is simply the absence of God.

It is just like darkness and cold, a word that man has created to

describe the absence of God. God did not create evil. Evil is the

result of what happens when man does not have God's love present in his

heart. It's like the cold that comes when there is no heat or the

darkness that comes when there is no light.'

The professor sat down.

We Must Move Our Feet

The aim of life is not to get ahead of others but rather to surpass yourself. The work of the world is not done by intellectual Geniuses, it is done by men and women like you of ordinary capacity who use their abilities in extraordinary ways. It is in the doing that the real blessings come not only to us but to those whom we work for and serve. The Lord can only guide our foot steps, We must choose to move our feet

Only Fools Take Offence

There is an old saying that states "Only a fool takes offence when offence IS NOT intended. But on the other hand, Only a fool takes offence when offence IS Intended". I have noticed in my life, when someone offends me many times it is because I missinterpreted their intentions.
Sure there are evil people with evil intentions to find evidence of this all you have to do is turn on the news. But for the most part the people close to us have good intentions. The next time you are offended In that moment of offence clarify the intentions of the offending party and most often than not you will realize you missunderstood. Has someone offended you in the past? And you just cant let it go. If so you are paying a high price. I had some issues that were out of my control one time and a friend shared some advices given by her grandmother. Her grandmother shared some steps with her. 1st get and envelope or a shoe box. 2nd Mark it things I give to God. 3rd Write down all of your burdens that are overwhelming. 4th write down people you cant forgive. 5th say a prayer and share your problems with the Lord 6th Forget about them and Let it Go. Upon returning to her box at a later date she was supprised looking back how each problem was resolved in one way or another. I personally did this with things I could not let go. After we moved I was unpacking and realized I had just packed and carried all of those problems with me to my new home some 3000 miles. So true to life. In that moment of clarity I burned the box. There is a saying on a ride at Disney world that states." You can't run from trouble, because there is no place that far". I look at each problem or sin as a brick in my back pack, life is a journey, if I want my journey to be easier, I must lighten the load by unloading some bricks. As I unload the bricks with a prayer I give each of them to the Lord. In doing so my soul has become stronger and my burdens have been lighter. I know that In so doing as we all leave this life you will find the Master has taken those mortal bricks of burden that you gave to him and included them in your mansion he has prepared for you on high

Burdens Become Gifts in the Hand

With the right perspective, Every burden on the back can become a gift in the hand. For the faithful, our finest hours are sometimes during or just following our darkest hours. The Lord is aware of and sees the sparrow fall. So to it is with his children; he knows of our tribulations.
There is not any pain agony or anguish that is experienced by a man or woman on this earth that will lack the compensating effect of the Savior; when it is met by prayer, patience, Long suffering with a Love of and for God. Life is the bitter and the sweet, necessarily filled with pleasure and Pain, virtue and vice, Sorrow and death so that we can indetify, know and appreciate the good things. Adversity will come to us all, But through Christ whom is Mighty to Save, so does Everlasting Lasting Life with him who gave us Life.

Shakespeare's Henry the VIII, Cardinal Wolsey who sold out his religious persuasions to please the Monarch of the land, and in his fallen state he declared " had I but served my God... See More with half the zeal I served my King, he would not in mine age have left me naked to mine enemies. If you pray together you will stay together, then while you are together as a couple serve God with all our heart might mind and strength you will stand together united and blameless at the last day.

(excerpts from Thomas S Monson " Lifes Greatest Decisions")

Attitude Determins Altitude In life

It has been said nothing can stop someone whom is in the right frame of mind Yet nothing can help someone with a bad attitude. In life our attitude determins our destiny. One day A traveler passed through a stone quarry, there He saw 3 men working with varying degrees of commitment. All were working, all were happy but there was something different about each Briefly he paused and asked each man what he was doing
the first man responded, cant you see I'm cutting stone

the second man replied I'm earning 3 gold pieces per day

the third man smiled and said I am helping to build a house of God.

All 3 were doing the same job but neither had the same perspective.

Mark 8:36 For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul 1 Cor 2:14 The natural man receiveth no the thins of the spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them because they are spiritually discerned.

Our attitude determins our Altitude.

Our Parents Give Us Lifes Foundation

As we go through life our parents give us our lifes foundation. In the beginnings of life we are submissive meek humble as a little child therefore we are teachable and we choose to work on building our house of faith on the foundation we have been given. But as the trials of life come we decided to hault the work on the house and start building a wall round about.
This wall is comprised of many different shapes and sizes of stones each stone represents a sin we have been exposed to and embrased instead of repenting. These sins become our favorite because we retreat behind them when the world seems to be against us. The most common sins of commission are; Alcohol, immorality, Pornography, Illicit drugs, Dishonesty, selfishness only to name a few. Others are sins of omission like lack of forgiveness, not attending church, failure to read the scriptures. inspite of this wall we have built in front of us, we cry out to the Lord. He hears us and is desprately wanting us to recieve his message from heaven, But instead of penetrating our hearts the messages hit the stoney brick wall. In order to hear what the Lord has in store for us, we must forsake the brick wall and begin to take it down stone by stone. Repenting for each one individually. Slowly as each stone is removed you will begin to feel the safety and security that comes from faith in him that is mighty to save.

Troubled Concience is cured by changing your behavior

Does your conscience sometimes bother you? Many Modern Professors of Human behavior suggest to ignore it and it will go away. With this they suggest we change the standard to fit our circumstances and actions so there is no longer conflict and thus easing our conscience. As Christians we can not afford to subscribe to such an evil and perverse philosophy with impunity,
1 Corinthians 3: 16-21 the spirit of God (our conscience) is given to us as a built in early warning system so we can keep our temple clean. As we travel through this life even on a seemingly uneventful trip just as a car picks up road grime so to does our spirits. For this reason Daily scripture study and church attendance become our spiritual car wash
we can take a trip to the car wash every day but if once we leave our trip takes us through a mud hole. You could wash your car every 5 minutes and it would never stay clean. The troubled conscience is cured by changing your behavior and following the repentant path that leads to the paved straight perfect road of the almighty

Take Not To Make Women Weep.

Divorce is often the fruit of bitter anger,Little inconsequential activities lead to criticism, little flaws are magnified into great torrents of fault finding. Where Love once grew anger devours " Men take care not to make women weep, For God counts their tears." Eph: 5:25 Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it; marriage troubles? Serve your partner. Service = love

Not all Trials Are Tragedies

Not all Trials are Tragedies, Trials have no respector of age or stage of life. How you respond, what you learn & how you endure it are what alter the ending . Gods Blessings only come after a trial of our faith. You are not alone, trials come to the young, old, rich, poor, student, Genius, farmer, lawyer, Dr, strong, weak, sick, healthy, A simple child to a Prophet of God, even Jesus Christ. Matthew 11:25-30

Progress is Found at Cross Roads of Life

Progress is found as we come to the cross roads of life. As a Christian Many times our choices are not between good and evil but rather between Good and Better. Most times you are faced with giving up something good right now for something Better that will come after work and tribulation down the road. In the end we appreciate the things we make the sacrifice for.

Motherhood Is a Calling from God

Motherhood is the greatest calling from God. And access is given in the most selfish years of life. A Mothers face is imprinted on the first blank page of the book of life. Her influence sets lifes foundation. Her caress awakens a sense of security. Her kiss is the first real affection. Her voice of sympathy, tendernes...s of touch, her attitude & belief in God with all hopes and dreams set the presidence for life.

Happy 4th of July 2010

“I sought for the greatness and genius of America in her commodious harbors and her ample rivers, and it was not there; in her fertile fields and boundless prairies, and it was not there; in her rich mines and her vast world of commerce, and it was not there.
Not until I went to the churches of America and heard her pulpits aflame with righteousness did I understand the secret of her genius and power. America is great because she is good, and if America ever ceases to be good, America will cease to be great.” by Jerreld L. Newquist

“Suppose a nation in some distant region should take the Bible as their only law book and every member should regulate his conduct by the precepts there exhibited. Every member would be obligated in conscience to temperance and frugality and industry, to justice and kindness and charity toward his fellowmen, and to piety, love, and reverence toward Almighty God

In this commonwealth no man would impair his health with gluttony, drunkenness or lust. No man would sacrifice his precious time to cards or trifling with other mean amusements. No man would steal or lie or in any way defraud his neighbor, but would live in peace and good will toward all men.

No man would blaspheme his Maker or profane his worship, but a rational and manly, a sincere and unaffected devotion would reign in the hearts of all men. What a utopia, what a paradise this region would be.”

No constitution on earth has endured longer than ours. We seek and usually find the answers to today’s hardest legal questions within this document of yesterday. The Constitution was and is a miracle. Both Washington and Madison referred to it as such.

One of the reasons America is great today is because those men who formulated the Constitution had vision. They looked ahead to today, and all of us here are recipients of their wisdom and foresight.” Among other things

the Constitution guarantees the religious freedom that allowed the Reformation to continue and flourish. The great religious reformers began to throw off the rituals and dogmas that had been attached to Christianity during the dark ages and sought to return to the pure and simple truths of the New Testament.

Happy 4th of July may we remain free to worship as our Fathers intended

When God Seems Far Away Check your Compass

There was once a couple on a long trip to see their children. As long trips go you have alot of time to talk. The wife broke the silence and asked. Why dont you hold me like you did when we were dating. We were so close. The husband looked at her as she was leaning on the passenger door. He said Honey I am in the same place I have always been. My love is no different, You are the one who moved.

I find when I let my relationship with God becomes casual. In that moment It seems like there is no devine ear listening & no voice speaking to my soul. In this I realize it is me who moved and I am far far away from him. If I immerse myself in the scriptures the distance seems to narrow and my spirituality seems to return and I see his hand, hear his voice and feel his peace in my life.

Money Morality and Ethics

When Money rather than Morality and Ethics dictates ones actions, Lifes road becomes inclined away from God. Turning away from God brings a quagmire of quicksand lending to crushed hopes, broken Hearts, ruined lives, Shattered Dreams and Vanished ambitions. True Blue Loyal friends will be there when the money is gone. ...choose your friends with caution, Plan your future with a purpose, Frame your life with Faith

Spirit of God On Your Face

When you live close to God and his Infinate grace. You dont have to tell because it shows on your face.

Striving better Than Arriving

In life, striving to reach a goal is more important than arriving at the finish, it is our daily attention that mold us into who we are. Much like an athlete daily effort polishes abilities into skill. If you give up you will never know whats around the bend. Fixed Worthy Goals with Persistance and determination turns fate into Destiny.

Selfishness is Blinding

No selfish person ever thought of himself to be so. If we look at our life, Selfishness is the cause of most of our misery. Selfishness is more than an ordinary problem because it activates all the Cardinal sins. It is the Detonator "if you will". in the breaking of the 10 commandments, Selfishness displaces the Spirit... of God. Selfless service cures Selfishness.

Jesus VS Satan

Jesus voted for and is "freedom". Satan Voted for "No Oposition" Yet is oposition. Christ says have faith, Come follow me. Satan uses doubt & disguises hiding himself & his methods. Christ gives laws for happiness & Love.Satan uses crime, debachery, plague, heartbreak, murder& distruction, Jesus is a Savior a Prince of... Peace. Satan is a theief a wolf in sheeps clothing. Christ & Faith fulfill, Satan & Doubt Destroy

Many would Die for Christ, Will you Live for Him?

What is on your internet history? What Books are found? What Music fills the air? What words fill your lips? What thoughts fill your mind? What would yo...u try to hide? Take care of it today. We fill our life with what has filled our heart.

When You Realize God Is all You Need

As the storms of life beat upon you, and your ship is dashed to pieces upon the sea. In amazement you watch it disappear beneath the waves. In that lonely moment you realize there is nothing left in your life but God. As you begin to speak to him, you realize he has always been there waiting to hear from you. As you feel him and see his hand in your life you soon realize He was all you needed

You Can Not Do Wrong and Feel Right

You can not do wrong and feel right. It is impossible. What is wrong is wrong and trends do not make something right if it is at variance with the Laws of God. Those who freely deny God with immoral, defiant and Agnostic practices will find he will freely deny them at the last day. Bible Ref: St Matthew 25:12

Being Still VS Doing Nothing

Being still and doing nothing are two very different things.(Psalms 46:10) A truly wise person is constantly moving forward in mind & body striving for self improvement. An inner desire and commitment to improve daily begins with turning yourself around to the right direction. It is a fact of life, the direction in which you are heading is more important than where we are on the road

God and The World Influence Man for good Differently

God works from inside out the world works from ouside in. The world would take the people out of the slums, Christ takes the slums out of the people and then they take themselves out of the slums. The world would mold men by changing their environment. christ changes men, who then change their environment
The world would shape human behavior, But Jesus Christ changes Human Nature. Yes Jesus Christ changes men and changed men change the world!!!! by Ezra Taft Benson

Thugs in the Land

Bad Habits

In the early years of life we feel so invensible. In these years we are so tempted to sow our wild oats pray for a crop failure. Early life decisons determins how you will earn your silver hair wisdom. "Bought? or Observed?" For what was sown in spring greets you at harvest. "Bad habits", At first we could break them if we would, Later in life we would break them if only we could.

Man can not posess 2 opposite Emotions at the Same time

The Human mind is unable to entertain or process 2 opposite emotions at the same time. When a man has Doubt he is unable to hold on to or possess Faith. These emotions simply can not exist in the mind together. One emotion dispels the other. Doubt distroys and Faith Fullfills. Feed your faith and your doubts will flee you

Man has only 2 eyes for a reason

Part 1: I took a sight test once, I found out I was far sighted in one eye and near sighted in the other. Miraculously without glasses my mind compensates to make this undetectable. In this I realized our minds eye has the ability to focus on the present and look to the future blending it into a beautiful picture.

Part 2: God did not equip us with a 3rd eye in the rear for a reason. He knows we must learn from our past and move on. God gave us sight for the present looking to the future. Man however always trying to replace the wisdom of God thought of a better idea. He created the rear view mirror.

Part 3: Oh the rear view mirror is quite handy if you are sitting at a stop. You can admire the unaware, you can spruce up your hair, and even check your teeth if you dare, or spot a blemish in a flash.

Part 4: But when you are in gear your eyes must adhere to the road ahead. You see if you stare back your car will attack that poor soul whom is in your way. So avoid that crash let your look be a flash and keep your journey straight.

Part 5: The Rear view mirror is a reflection to see into the past, It can grace you with the present but it soon will fade away, for the present is just one moment before it becomes the past. If you continue staring in the mirror yesterday consumes today. .

Part 6: As time moves forward and you look to that glass, you realize it should be limited to but a moment to check on your past. You will find the past is vital to see how far you have come. But if it becomes your focus you will fall on your bum.

Part 7: Make no mistake, the past is very important because it has made you who you are. But in it you must move forward with the realization the past is found many markers all of which you have passed, for this is where you came from. Without this perspective you could not know what you have gained.

We dont have 3 eyes for a reason

I took a sight test once, I was far sighted and near sighted. Miraculously without glasses my mind compensates to make this undetectable. Our minds eye can focus on the present and look to the future blending it into a beautiful picture. A 3rd eye in the rear is not an option. For brief moments you can check the rear view. But To avoid the hazards of life the focus must be on the present looking toward the future

Religious Fanatics

A Holier than Thou Religious Fanatic is one who has lost sight of his goal and has redoubled his efforts to get there. A true follower of Christ has steady dedication through a lifetime, not short frenzied outburst of emotion.True commitment is 100% of the time. Not an occasional 120% fanatic effort. The Gospel of Jesus Christ is a sweet harmonious melody utilizing each note in order, Fanatics bang on a favorite key.

Sweet Victory

A man reaches sweet victory in his life when he develops the ability to recognize the misdirection of his own life's course and in that moment becomes willing to pay the price which allows him to walk in the path of the Savior. Where did the Savior do his work? with the Poor, with the sick & outcast. Serve the people and forget "SELF" When You are in the service of your fellow man,You are in the service of your God.

What Legacy Will You Leave

The most treasured things in life aren't things at all. Armored trucks will not accompany us to the grave, But the people whom you have touched along the path of life do. One time a wealthy man died and at his service was stated, "He left no Legacy" What Legacy have you left behind so far. Rekindle the most treasured things today and help another along your way.

You Must Use The Brakes

To drive a car you must use levers wheels and gadgets. Besides the steering wheel, there are few things more important than the Brakes. When properly used we navigate the perils of the road without incident. So it is with life, We must apply the brakes in life to safely steer and maintain full control. You must Bridle Your Passions to control your thoughts for thoughts preceed actions, and actions determin destiny

Alternate "Empty chair in church"

There is an empty chair in church

Whose could it be?

It’s always there each Sunday sitting quietly.

That chair always seems more like a nuisance

Always getting in the way.

So in their minds the congregation did say

To remove the chair

Oh who would despair?

Does anyone care?

I Just don’t know why it must stay

For what good is an empty chair when it is always in the way!!

If they only knew where that chairs been

It would be thought a sin, to remove that chair from its place

No matter how thick or thin

For it would only be a selfish effort just to save a little space

If they only knew who would fill it

If they could only see

For that is the place where Jesus sits

Observing quietly

I did not know he was holding that seat

Patiently he did wait

For me to wander down my winding course to learn from my mistakes

There is an empty chair in church

that chairs just for me

Jesus has reserved it and is waiting patiently.

If they only knew

How great their search would be

For that chair that sits vacant in The Lords house is waiting for you and me.

when you draw close to the Lord

He will draw close to you

All he ask is a little time each day just a moment or two.

Jesus does not care about your talents for which you do possess

For he can give you more his gifts are limitless

But rather the ones you have and humbly share each day

The master sees the worldly cares and pride that stands in the way

For he knows the worldly things only waste our day.

So he has given us talents but for them you must pay

You see there is a cost attached you’ll see along the way

You must share them wisely or they will not stay

For when you share your talents I know You will see his face

As you serve your neighbor you will find his loving grace

In so doing you will find the ones you love

Those waiting just for you

Perhaps you once made them a promise before you came here too

With this promise you must keep and search every day

You see we lived in heaven and full happiness we did seek.

When the two plans were presented our joy was at its peak

We stood together as joyfully chose the path we could not fake

To come to earth and gain a body and learn from our mistakes.

For you it was given to hear of his word.

For me I would be a stranger to the work you see.

You have to share the gospel in the way you know I’ll see

You’ll know how to teach me as you pray silently

The most important thing is to give of your time in the master’s hand this time he cannot steal

You have to give with a willing heart and serve with might and zeal

As I watch the way you live your life, I will find great appeal

I will see the word s that Jesus taught in every thought and deed

As you share the gospel I know that I see a friend from not so long ago

Who made a promise to me.

Eternal Love

I know there is someone out there

Find them I must

For they are my eternal companion

In them I trust

To give of my heart , might , mind and soul

To kneel across the alter I know

I must be clean in word and deed for this much I know.

And when I am not righteous

I know I give way, to the enticings of the evil one who leads me astray

When I am not righteous, it alters my lifes course leading me further from my best true love

Who is on the righteous course

Oh there are many beautiful flowers I could pick along the way

If I choose to pick of the flowers I find along the way

But I realize it will be but a short time before they have gone away

Their beauty far better to admire sticking to your path for if they are not beside

You know they just wont do.

I know it is so tempting to leave your straight course

For only just a moment

Just one time just wont hurt

But then you realize there are so many and you want them to

Before you know it

You have wandered away from the path you held so dear

And now it will take great effort for you to run and steer

For the path back to the road is a hard one

It is a long way back to the top

For the hill was so gently sloping you didn’t think to stop

The time lost is but a moment and for this you must repent

It would be far greater if you would have never went.

For the flowers lasted but a moment and a moment just don’t last

For your journey is a long one

One which you must live life through

And without the roots of the gospel

You know they just wont do

You can admire their beauty in passing they all seem sweet

You know on close inspection that flower just wont do

For their beauty is so pleasing, but then you remember the stakes

For life has many winding roads that make the journey seem fun

But the only one that leads to eternity is found on the only straight one

How boring the path seems to the masses

But you know the truth

Be ware of the flowers whom seem to be on the path

Take them to the lord in prayer for he knows if they will last.

I thought I found that flower once with whom I would live life through

But she said she was not worthy and would not meet me there

So I knew what I must do

And so I found another with whom the lord did prepare.

She had found her way back to the path

And with her I did meet

And when I took her to the lord in prayer

I found my heart did beat

With the love the one true love

The one that would meet

At the Lords most Holy house to kneal at his feet

To make the covenants he did prepare

To last my whole life through and he allowed me to have my one true love

For eternity too!!!!!!!

When you qualify yourself in both word and deed

you will find another who will meet you in that holy place

for the lord has prepared many but he must allow their space

to make correct choices is the only key

You must keep your mind on that straight and narrow path

To find that promised one

For she will be the most beautiful flower that blooms every day

When you find her it is then you see

That your mind could not see the forest for you were blinded by all the trees

This is when you realize the flowers along the way

Were but mear annuals whom bloom and fall away

But in the true flower you have sought at all cost

You have found she is a rose

Youll find she may have a few thorns but wow

She is a Rose.

A rose is very beautiful

The thorns you will take for these protect the root to which her nourishment lies

For her roots are set so deep that when the winter is through

All you have to do is trim her back

Then sit and watch her bloom

Her fruit is the Flower of which makes life sweet

The only way to enjoy her is to visit her every day

And pluck of her offerings or they will go away.

You see the more a rose is tended

The more it will bloom

And it is with marriage with the one you live life through

Think of the worth of a perfect rose

Made for only you.

In this you realize one great truth

If you live your life holding to the rod

You will be blessed

For there are many who would be just right for you

But to get the choicest yet

You must maintain your plotted course and not go astray

For it is only on that course you will find her today.

It has been 10 years now since I found her on my course

It seems but a moment

and what trials we have faced

Did I mention it seems but a moment since I first saw her face

The face of an angel standing in my course

Who could have guessed she was my wife for I was on my way

To meet another to dance the night away

But the lord had another plan

One that made me sick at the thought fun I had to turn away

You see the lord had another plan

So he pushed her in my way

She was a young fair beauty

But my mind said 7 yrs no way

But the Lord had a larger plan

And her beauty was not skin deep

For she was my best friend you see

And with her I did come to the dance to meet another

But this was spoiled by my brother.

But in the eternal scheme of things she was only a moment late

For the lord knew time is but a number

And seconds he did see

For the woman he chose for me

Was but a moment late

In the grand scheme of things 7 years, WELL……..

SHE WAS WORTH THE WAIT!!!!!!!!!

I was 26 and she was 19

If there is hope for me there is hope for you.

Now the time does not matter

It is all water over the dam

Now it set back and admire the view

Out over the land

For she has made life sweet you see.

And children she did bear

Who make me forget all the worldly things even when they are in my hair.

Life is sweet you see

When you follow the plan

For the lord has a charted course

But you must take a stand

Grab that rod and hold it tight

Hang on to it with all your might

For if you do this you will see

You will find that beauty the Lord has prepared

Just you wait and see.

Jesus Wept

John 11:35 " Jesus Wept " Jesus arrived 4 days after Lazarus died and wept at his Tomb. Jesus Wept "Expanded Version"

John 11:35 " Jesus Wept "This is the shortest scripture in the Bible. Many would skim over it without giving in much thought. As I studied these words the man Jesus came into view. If you read the circumstances surrounding this scripture you will find Jesus arrived 4 days after Lazarus died. Jesus knew he was dead and he knew he would raise him fromt the dead. Knowing this we learn after being greeted by the mourners, all of whom were upset because of his delay. Martha stated if he had only been there he could have saved him.
John 11:20-24
20 Then Martha, as soon as she heard that Jesus was coming, went and met him: but Mary sat still in the house.
21 Then said Martha unto Jesus, Lord, if thou hadst been here, my brother had not died.
22 But I know, that even now, whatsoever thou wilt ask of God, God will agive it thee.
23 Jesus saith unto her, Thy brother shall rise again.
24 Martha saith unto him, I know that he shall rise again in the resurrection at the last day. .
It was then he wept at his Tomb.

Most say he had compassion on the morners. But I would submit he wept because His closest friends lacked the faith to believe he was the Messiah. Lazarus was the only one there who truely believed as he heeded the masters voice and came forth. I know Jesus weeps for the world today. Are any of his tears for you? Send a Knee Mail today.

Obediance = Happiness

Obediance=Happiness...God has never given a single commandment that was not calculated to bring about happiness. If you are not happy, remember God does not withhold himself from you, It is YOU who withhold from him by dis-obediance. Obediance is a skill. To aquire a skill it takes practice and soon it becomes natural. So it is with the commandments. To Know him=Love=Obediance=happiness

Pure Love of Christ

Excerpt from "Gifts of the Spirit for Hard Times"

Elder Henry B. Eyring Quorum of the Twelve Apostles
CES Fireside for Young Adults • September 10, 2006 • Brigham Young University

I surely don’t understand all the meaning of the scriptural words “the pure love of Christ.” But one meaning I do know is this: It is a gift we are promised when the Atonement of Jesus Christ has worked in us. The gift is to want what He wants. When our love is the love He feels, it is pure because He is pure. And when we feel our desire for people is moving toward being in line with His, that is one of the ways that we can know that we are being purified. When we pray for the gifts of the Spirit—and we should—one for which I pray is that I might have pure motives, to want what He wants for our Father’s children and for me and to feel, as well as to say, that what I want is His will to be done.
That is what these words from Moroni mean to me:

“Wherefore, my beloved brethren, if ye have not charity, ye are nothing, for charity never faileth. Wherefore, cleave unto charity, which is the greatest of all, for all things must fail—
“But charity is the pure love of Christ, and it endureth forever; and whoso is found possessed of it at the last day, it shall be well with him.

“Wherefore, my beloved brethren, pray unto the Father with all the energy of heart, that ye may be filled with this love, which he hath bestowed upon all who are true followers of his Son, Jesus Christ; that ye may become the sons of God; that when he shall appear we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is; that we may have this hope; that we may be purified even as he is pure. Amen” (Moroni 7:46–48).
I bear you my witness that God the Father lives, a glorified and exalted Man. He is the Father of our spirits. He and His Beloved Son, both resurrected and glorified, appeared to the boy Joseph Smith in a grove of trees in New York. They were there. The Father spoke to Joseph, first calling him by name and then introducing His Son. Heavenly messengers came to restore all the priesthood keys of authority. Joseph translated the Book of Mormon by the gift and power of God. It had been written on plates by ancient prophets, one of whom gave them to Joseph and took them back when the translation was done. The keys of the priesthood are on the earth today. As a witness of Jesus Christ, I testify to you that I know He lives and that He leads His Church.
I pray with all the energy of my heart that you will have your prayers answered to meet the requirements to receive the Holy Ghost. And I pray that you will endure faithful to the end and that, for you, it will be glorious.
I leave you my blessing that your pleadings for the gifts of the Spirit to serve the Lord will be granted. And I leave you my love. In the name of Jesus Christ, amen

Pure Motive

Excerpt from "Gifts of the Spirit for Hard Times"

A third requirement for the companionship of the Holy Ghost is pure motive. If you want to receive the gifts of the Spirit, you have to want them for the right reasons. Your purposes must be the Lord’s purposes. To the degree your motives are selfish, you will find it difficult to receive those gifts of the Spirit that have been promised to you.

That fact serves both as a warning and as helpful instruction. First, the warning: God is offended when we seek the gifts of the Spirit for our own purposes rather than for His. Our selfish motives may not be obvious to us. But few of us would be so blind as the man who sought to purchase the right to the gifts of the Spirit. You remember the sad story of a man named Simon and of Peter’s rebuke:
“And when Simon saw that through laying on of the apostles’ hands the Holy Ghost was given, he offered them money,
“Saying, Give me also this power, that on whomsoever I lay hands, he may receive the Holy Ghost.
“But Peter said unto him, Thy money perish with thee, because thou hast thought that the gift of God may be purchased with money.
“Thou hast neither part nor lot in this matter: for thy heart is not right in the sight of God.
“Repent therefore of this thy wickedness, and pray God, if perhaps the thought of thine heart may be forgiven thee.
“For I perceive that thou art in the gall of bitterness, and in the bond of iniquity.
“Then answered Simon, and said, Pray ye to the Lord for me, that none of these things which ye have spoken come upon me” (Acts 8:18–24).

Apparently Simon recognized his own corrupt motives. It may not be so easy for each of us. We almost always have more than one motive at a time. And some may be mixtures of what God wants as well as what we want. It is not easy to pull them apart.
For instance, consider yourself on the eve of a school examination or an interview for a new job. You know that the direction of the Holy Ghost could be of great help. I know from my own experience, for example, that the Holy Ghost knows some of the mathematical equations used to solve problems in thermodynamics, a branch of the sciences. I was a struggling physics student studying in a book that I still own. I keep it for historical and spiritual reasons. Halfway down a page (I could even show you where it is on the page), in the middle of some mathematics, I had a clear confirmation that what I was reading was true. It was exactly the feeling I had had come to me before as I pondered the Lord’s scriptures and that I have had many times since. So I knew that the Holy Ghost understood whatever was true in what I might be asked on an examination in thermodynamics.
You can imagine that I was tempted to ask God to send me the Holy Ghost during the examination so I wouldn’t need to study further. I knew that He could do it, but I did not ask Him. I felt that He would rather have me learn to pay a price in effort. He may well have sent help in the examination, but I was afraid that my motive might not be His. You have had that same choice to make often. It may have been when you were to be interviewed for a job. It may even have been when you were preparing for a talk or to teach a missionary discussion. Always there is the possibility that you may have a selfish purpose for yourself that is less important to the Lord.
For instance, I may want a good grade in a course, when He prefers that I learn how to work hard in the service of others. I may want a job because of the salary or the prestige, when He wants me to work somewhere else to bless the life of someone I don’t even know yet. He surely will have purposes for your hearing me speak tonight. He knows you. I might have a desire to entertain or impress you. But I have tried to suppress my desire and surrender to His.
I saw a man do that once. It changed my life. A member of the General Authorities came to speak to a conference where I was sitting on the stand. I was in the local priesthood presidency. I knew personally the struggles of the local families and the members. He, the General Authority, had just flown in from a long assignment in Europe. He was obviously tired. He stood to speak in the meeting. It seemed to me that he rambled from one subject to another. At first I felt sorry for him. I thought he was failing to give a polished sermon of the kind I knew he had delivered many times.
After a while I was thrilled to recognize that as he moved from one apparently unrelated topic to another, he was touching the need of every poor struggling member and family we were trying to help. He did not know them and their needs. But God did.
How grateful I am that his motive was not to give a great sermon or to be seen as a powerful prophet. He must have done what I hope you and I will always do. He must have prayed something like this: “Father, I need Thy help. I am tired. Please guide me with the Holy Ghost. Bless these people. I love them. I ask only that I can do Thy will to help them.”
The Holy Ghost came that night. And the Lord’s will was done. The General Authority had spent a lifetime feeding himself and others on the good word of God. He had served the Master faithfully. He was a special witness of Jesus Christ because he had paid the price to be one. All of that came from keeping his motives as closely tied as he could to what the Lord wanted. That made it possible for the Lord to send the whisperings of the Holy Ghost to His servant and so bless the people.

Requirement to Be Clean

Excerpt from "Gifts of the Spirit for Hard Times"

Elder Henry B. Eyring Quorum of the Twelve Apostles

The first requirement was faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and in our Heavenly Father. A second requirement for frequent companionship and direction from the Holy Ghost is to be clean. The Spirit must withdraw from those who are not clean. You remember the sad illustration of that in the history of the people in the Book of Mormon:
“And because of their iniquity the church had begun to dwindle; and they began to disbelieve in the spirit of prophecy and in the spirit of revelation; and the judgments of God did stare them in the face.
“And they saw that they had become weak, like unto their brethren, the Lamanites, and that the Spirit of the Lord did no more preserve them; yea, it had withdrawn from them because the Spirit of the Lord doth not dwell in unholy temples” (Helaman 4:23–24).
The path to receiving the Holy Ghost is to exercise faith in Christ unto repentance. We can become clean through qualifying for the effects of the Savior’s Atonement. The covenants offered in baptism by authorized servants of God bring that cleansing. We renew our pledge to keep those covenants each time we partake of the sacrament. And the peace we all seek is the assurance that we have received forgiveness for our sins of omission or commission.
The Savior is the one who has been given the right to grant that forgiveness and to give that assurance. I have learned that the Lord gives that assurance at the time He chooses, and He does it in His own way. And I have learned to ask for it in prayer. One way He grants that assurance is through the Holy Ghost. If you have difficulty in feeling the Holy Ghost, you might wisely ponder whether there is anything for which you need to repent and receive forgiveness.
If you have felt the influence of the Holy Ghost during this day, or even this evening, you may take it as evidence that the Atonement is working in your life. For that reason and many others, you would do well to put yourself in places and in tasks that invite the promptings of the Holy Ghost. Feeling the influence of the Holy Ghost works both ways: the Holy Ghost only dwells in a clean temple, and the reception of the Holy Ghost cleanses us through the Atonement of Jesus Christ. You can pray with faith to know what to do to be cleansed and thus qualified for the companionship of the Holy Ghost and the service of the Lord. And with that companionship you will be strengthened against temptation and empowered to detect deception.

Faith in God

Excerpt from "Gifts of the Spirit for Hard Times"

Elder Henry B. Eyring Quorum of the Twelve Apostles

First, receiving the Holy Ghost takes faith in our Heavenly Father and in His Beloved Son, Jesus Christ. A memory of a great spiritual experience some time ago, where you had confirmed to you that truth, won’t be sufficient. You will need to be sure of your faith in the moment of crisis, which may come at any time day or night, when you plead for the influence of the Spirit. You must then be unshaken in your confidence that God lives, that He hears your cry for help, and that the resurrected Savior will do for you what He promised to do for His servants in His mortal ministry. You remember:
“But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me” (John 15:26).

The brothers Nephi and Lehi received many revelations daily. The record shows that they knew concerning the true points of doctrine. Of all the true doctrine, nothing is more important to you and me than the true nature of God the Father and His Son, Jesus Christ. For that I return again and again to the scriptures. For that I return again and again to prayer. For that I return again and again to partaking of the sacrament. And, above all, I come to know God and Jesus Christ best by keeping the commandments and serving in the Church. By diligent service in the Church we come not only to know the character of God but to love Him. If we follow His commands, our faith in Him will grow and we may then qualify to have His Spirit to be with us.
Vibrant faith in God comes best from serving Him regularly. Not all of us have received callings to offices in the Church. Some of you may not yet be called to something in a formal way, yet every member has a multitude of opportunities to serve God. For instance, for years we have heard the phrase “every member a missionary.” That is not a choice. It is a fact of our membership. Our choice is to speak to others about the gospel or not. Similarly, each member is to care for the poor among us and around us. Some of that we do privately and alone. Some we do together with other members. That is why we have fast offerings and service projects. Our choice is to decide whether to join with the Lord and His other disciples in our day as He and His disciples did during His mortal ministry.

Most of us have or may have callings as home and visiting teachers. There is in those callings great opportunity to grow in faith that the Lord sends the Holy Ghost to His humble servants. That builds faith and renews our faith in Him. I’ve seen it and so have many of you. I received a phone call from a distraught mother in a state far away from where I was. She told me that her unmarried daughter had moved to another city far from her home. She sensed from the little contact she had with her daughter that something was terribly wrong. The mother feared for the moral safety of her daughter. She pleaded with me to help her daughter.
I found out who the daughter’s home teacher was. I called him. He was young. And yet he and his companion both had been awakened in the night with not only concern for the girl but with inspiration that she was about to make choices that would bring sadness and misery. With only the inspiration of the Spirit, they went to see her. She did not at first want to tell them anything about her situation. They pleaded with her to repent and to choose to follow the path the Lord had set out for her and that her mother and father had taught her to follow. She realized as she listened that the only way they could have known what they knew about her life was from God. A mother’s prayer had gone to Heavenly Father, and the Holy Ghost had been sent to home teachers with an errand.
More than once I have heard priesthood leaders say that they had been inspired to go to someone in need, only to find the visiting teacher or the home teacher had already been there. My wife, who is here with me tonight, is an example. We had a bishop once who said to me, “You know, it bothers me—when I get an inspiration to go to someone, your wife has already been there.” Your faith will grow as you serve the Lord in caring for Heavenly Father’s children as the Lord’s teacher to their home. You will have your prayers answered. You will come to know for yourself that He lives, that He loves us, and that He sends inspiration to those with even the beginnings of faith in Him and with the desire to serve Him in His Church. Stay close to the Church if you want your faith in God to grow. And as it grows, so will your ability to claim the promise you were given that you can receive the gifts of the Spirit.

Receiving Revelations Daily

Excerpt from "Gifts of the Spirit for Hard Times"

Elder Henry B. Eyring Quorum of the Twelve Apostles

Now, if you and I were visiting alone (I wish we could be), where you felt free to ask whatever you wanted to ask, I can imagine your saying something like this: “Oh, Brother Eyring, I’ve felt some of the things you have described. The Holy Ghost has touched my heart and mind from time to time. But I will need it consistently if I am not to be overcome or deceived. Is that possible? Is it possible, and, if it is, what will it take to receive that blessing?”
Well, let’s start with the first part of your question. Yes, it is possible. Whenever I need that reassurance—and I need it from time to time too—I remember two brothers. Nephi and Lehi, and the other servants of the Lord laboring with them, faced fierce opposition. They were serving in an increasingly wicked world. They had to deal with terrible deceptions. So I take courage—and so can you—from the words in this one verse of Helaman. The reassurance is tucked into the account of all that happened in an entire year, almost as if to the writer it was not surprising. Listen:
“And in the seventy and ninth year there began to be much strife. But it came to pass that Nephi and Lehi, and many of their brethren who knew concerning the true points of doctrine, having many revelations daily, therefore they did preach unto the people, insomuch that they did put an end to their strife in that same year” (Helaman 11:23).
They had “many revelations daily.” So, for you and for me, that answers your first question. Yes, it is possible to have the companionship of the Holy Ghost sufficiently to have many revelations daily. It will not be easy. But it is possible. What it will require will be different for each person because we start from where we are in our unique set of experiences in life. For all of us there will be at least three requirements. None of them can be gained and retained from a single experience. All of them must be constantly renewed

Manifestations of the Spirit

Excerpt from "Gifts of the Spirit for Hard Times"

Elder Henry B. Eyring Quorum of the Twelve Apostles

As you heard those words just now, you may have felt another instance of receiving a manifestation of the Spirit that you have been promised. Those words paint a picture of the day when we may be with the Savior, who spoke of the ten virgins and of His coming again—only this time in glory. And they describe a day when we might be with Him and have His glory upon us. Of all the things to which the Holy Ghost testifies, and which you may have just felt, none is more precious to us than that Jesus is the Christ, the living Son of God. And nothing is so likely to make us feel light, hope, and joy. Then it is not surprising that when we feel the influence of the Holy Ghost, we also can feel that our natures are being changed because of the Atonement of Jesus Christ. We feel an increased desire to keep His commandments, to do good, and to deal justly.
Many of you have felt that effect from your frequent experiences with the Holy Ghost. For instance, in the mission field some of you had to rely on the Spirit to have the words to teach what the people needed. More than once, and perhaps every day, you had the blessing that Nephi and Lehi had among the people in their mission, described in Helaman:
“And it came to pass that Nephi and Lehi did preach unto the Lamanites with such great power and authority, for they had power and authority given unto them that they might speak, and they also had what they should speak given unto them—
“Therefore they did speak unto the great astonishment of the Lamanites, to the convincing them, insomuch that there were eight thousand of the Lamanites who were in the land of Zarahemla and round about baptized unto repentance, and were convinced of the wickedness of the traditions of their fathers” (Helaman 5:18–19).
Although you may not have been blessed with so miraculous a harvest, you have been given words by the Holy Ghost when you surrendered your heart to the Lord’s service. At certain periods of your mission, such an experience came often. If you will think back on those times and ponder, you will also remember that the increase in your desire to obey the commandments came over you gradually. You felt less and less the tug of temptation. You felt more and more the desire to be obedient and to serve others. You felt a greater love for the people.
One of the effects of receiving a manifestation of the Holy Ghost repeatedly was that your nature changed. And so, from that faithful service to the Master, you had not only the witness of the Holy Ghost that Jesus is the Christ but you saw evidence in your own life that the Atonement is real. Such service, which brings the influence of the Holy Ghost, is an example of planting the seed, which Alma described:
“And now, behold, because ye have tried the experiment, and planted the seed, and it swelleth and sprouteth, and beginneth to grow, ye must needs know that the seed is good.
“And now, behold, is your knowledge perfect? Yea, your knowledge is perfect in that thing, and your faith is dormant; and this because you know, for ye know that the word hath swelled your souls, and ye also know that it hath sprouted up, that your understanding doth begin to be enlightened, and your mind doth begin to expand.
“O then, is not this real? I say unto you, Yea, because it is light; and whatsoever is light, is good, because it is discernible, therefore ye must know that it is good; and now behold, after ye have tasted this light is your knowledge perfect?
“Behold I say unto you, Nay; neither must ye lay aside your faith, for ye have only exercised your faith to plant the seed that ye might try the experiment to know if the seed was good.
“And behold, as the tree beginneth to grow, ye will say: Let us nourish it with great care, that it may get root, that it may grow up, and bring forth fruit unto us. And now behold, if ye nourish it with much care it will get root, and grow up, and bring forth fruit” (Alma 32:33–37).

The Holy Ghost Is the Key

Excerpt from "Gifts of the Spirit for Hard Times"

Elder Henry B. Eyring Quorum of the Twelve Apostles

The key for each of us will be to accept and hold the gift we have been promised by God. You who are members of the true Church of Jesus Christ will remember that, after you were baptized, authorized servants of God promised you that you could receive the Holy Ghost. Some of you may have felt something happen when that ordinance was performed. Most of you have felt the effects of that promise being fulfilled in your lives. I will tell you tonight how to recognize that gift, how to receive it every day in your life, and how it will bless you in the days ahead.
You have felt the quiet confirmation in your heart and mind that something was true. And you knew that it was inspiration from God. For some of you it may have come as the missionaries taught you before your baptism. It may have come during a talk or lesson in church. It may have come already tonight when something that was true was said or sung, as I felt when I heard the singing, as some of you did. The Holy Ghost is the Spirit of Truth. You feel peace, hope, and joy when it speaks to your heart and mind that something is true. Almost always I have also felt a sensation of light. Any feeling I may have had of darkness is dispelled. And the desire to do right grows.
The Lord promised that having those experiences would be true for you. Here are His words, recorded in the Doctrine and Covenants:
“And now, verily, verily, I say unto thee, put your trust in that Spirit which leadeth to do good—yea, to do justly, to walk humbly, to judge righteously; and this is my Spirit.
“Verily, verily, I say unto you, I will impart unto you of my Spirit, which shall enlighten your mind, which shall fill your soul with joy” (D&C 11:12–13).
The Lord also promised that those who have accepted the gift of the Holy Ghost in their lives would not be deceived. He spoke reassuringly to you and to me, who live in the times when the Church is being made ready for the time when He comes again. Here is the promise from the Doctrine and Covenants:
“And at that day, when I shall come in my glory, shall the parable be fulfilled which I spake concerning the ten virgins.
“For they that are wise and have received the truth, and have taken the Holy Spirit for their guide, and have not been deceived—verily I say unto you, they shall not be hewn down and cast into the fire, but shall abide the day.
“And the earth shall be given unto them for an inheritance; and they shall multiply and wax strong, and their children shall grow up without sin unto salvation.
“For the Lord shall be in their midst, and his glory shall be upon them, and he will be their king and their lawgiver” (D&C 45:56–59).

Blessings and Challenges of the Last Days

With all of our uniqueness, we all have some things in common. We are all in the probationary test of mortality. And, wherever we live, that test will become increasingly difficult. We are in the last dispensation of time. God’s prophets have seen these times for millennia. They saw that wonderful things were to happen. There was to be a restoration of the gospel of Jesus Christ. The true Church was to be brought back with prophets and apostles. The gospel was to be taken to every nation, kindred, tongue, and people. Most marvelous of all, the true Church and its members are to become worthy for the coming of the Savior to His Church and to His purified disciples.
But the true prophets also saw that in the last days Satan would rage. There would be wars and rumors of wars. That would inspire fear. The courage of many would fail. There would be great wickedness. And Satan would deceive many.
Yet, happily, many would not be overcome. And many would not be deceived. The fact that you are here listening tonight is evidence that you want to be among those who will not be overcome and will not be deceived. My purpose is to teach you how you can reach that happy and glorious goal.

Endangered are The Honorable

Honor is a trait that is earned by thought word and deed Not education. Honor is honesty, fairness, integrity, chastity, respect for others. It requires uprightness sincerity, high moral principles and the absence of deceit or fraud. Once earned you will have uncompromising honesty and trustworthiness dictated by moral principle that no power or influence can impair. Honorable Men are on the Endangerd List

Righteous Living Closes Walmart

I lived in a town once called Rexburg Idaho. This little town was amazing. It is where The church of Jesus Christ Of Latter Day Saints has a College. This college is now Called Brigham Young University. The whole town existed because of the college. What sets this college apart from others is the Standard upon which each student is chosen. In short each student must pass an interview which is based upon your righteousness in relation to living the commandments of God. As a consequence only the cream of the crop are allowed to attend this school. To attend you must live by a health code which includes abstaining from moral transgression, Alchohol consumption and any other sin. And amazing thing happened in this town. Walmart came into town and decided it would be closed on Sunday. It simply was not profitable for Walmart to open if no one came. The whole town kept the Sabbath Holy. Do You Keep the BIG 10, or have you forgotten One commandment at a time. Blessings from God come by obediance to His laws. It is only through obediance that we qualify for his full blessings. When All Else Fails Read and Follow the Instructions
